A Family Vision of Hospitality

Lagria Hospitality was founded between 1991 and 2023 by Panayiotis and Vassiliki Panayiotou with a simple but powerful vision: to create a place where guests can experience a Cypriot village in its most authentic form. Instead of building something modern and bland, the team at Lagria chose to restore the traditional stone house containing the two Melissothea Stone Suites- carefully maintaining their character whilst adding a high level of modern day comforts.

Every detail of the restored Melissothea Stone Suites reflect the couple’s deep respect for heritage -  the stone walls, archways, wooden shutters and interior decor that help keep the rhythm of village life alive.  Comfort is never compromised: the interiors are stylishly and comfortably designed with everything today’s traveller expects. It’s this careful harmony of tradition and modernity that makes the Melissothea Stone Suites so special and distinctive.

Lagria Winery

At the heart of Lagria Hospitality is its family-run winery, which has quickly become a highlight for guests and visitors alike. Established by three cousins who have a passion and respect for the land, the winery produces a selection of seven excellent wines that reflect the region’s unique terroir.

Among the favourites are:

  • Dry Red Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 - a rich, full-bodied red with character.

  • Dry Red, Mavro 2014 – made from a traditional Cypriot grape variety, known for its deep colour and flavour.

  • Dry Red, Syrah 2019 known for its unique and characteristic flavour.

  • Dry Red, Alicante Bouchet and Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, a wonderful blend that results in a very rich and smooth finish.

  • Dry White, Mavro and Xynisteri – Blanc de Noir, a white wine made from black grapes and Xynisteri, an indigenous crisp, refreshing white, perfect for warm days.

  • Dry Rosé - light, aromatic, and ideal for leisurely afternoons.

  • Sweet Dessert Wine, Finiki ΦΟΙΝΙΚΗ Sun Wine –  a sweet finale made with their forefather’s wisdom.

Guests can arrange a tour of the winery and wine tasting. They will have the opportunity to learn about the winemaking process directly from the winemakers who cultivate the vines and buy some wines directly from the winery. This connection between vineyard, cellar, and table is what makes the experience so personal and memorable. (With reservations only (+357) 99 404 872).

A Culinary Experience

Wine at Lagria Hospitality is always paired with food. The Lagria Taverna is situated in the heart of Salamiou and can be used for a variety of private functions with carefully crafted menus that incorporate time-honoured recipes that have been handed down through the generations, fusion options and international favourites. Lagria Taverna is perfect for family celebrations, social gatherings and corporate events. (Only with reservations (+357) 99 404 872)

There are tavernas in Salamiou and other surrounding villages where a traditional Mezé can be enjoyed. This is a series of tasting dishes that showcase traditional seasonal Cypriot dishes and include:

  • Fresh salads with local tomatoes, herbs and olive oil

  • Home-prepared cheeses and cured meats

  • Seasonal vegetables such as wild asparagus or artichokes

  • Grape-based sweets like palouze and soutzoukos

Every meal enjoyed in the village celebrates local produce and the agricultural traditions that have sustained the community for generations.
